David Venn, Associate

David Venn is an Ottawa-based public relations strategist with experience in the non-profit, health, education and international development sectors. His focus is on empowering non-profit and public sector organizations to create positive social change through integrated PR and communications strategies. He is also committed to building the capacity and sustainability of organizations by putting available research knowledge into practice.
David is a highly effective communicator, team-oriented worker and pragmatic problem-solver with ability to synthesize complex information and build relationships across a variety of sectors.
Throughout his career David has served in multiple public relations roles responsible for the development of communications plans, management of media and social media relations, coordination of community projects and organization of public events. Prior to joining Knowledge Mobilization Works he led communications efforts for a national mental health knowledge exchange centre in partnership with the IWK Health Centre and Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
As a writer David’s work has appeared in over a dozen North American publications, newspapers and academic journals. He holds an MA in International Development, an Advanced Diploma in Public Relations and a BA in Philosophy. David is also a former board member for the International Association of Business Communicators (Maritime Chapter) and has volunteered his expertise to a variety of public events and charitable causes.
